Keith Haring - A Pile of Crowns, for Jean-Michel Basquiat, 1988
My first tattoo was Basquiat’s motif of the crown over Keith Haring’s ‘Radiant Baby.’ Over time I remembered that Basquiat was sometimes called the Radiant Child, and that Keith Haring painted this painting in remembrance of Basquiat. Little coincidences, I found it interesting that a tattoo that I thought up of in a few minutes one night and got the next day to display my love of two inspirations also held connections between the two artists themselves.
